"Daisy Mae" was picked up as a stray in July of 2007 and taken to The Animal Shelter in Anniston.  Less
then 30 days later she gave birth to 7 puppies.  When they were 10 days old, we brought them all into our
home to foster.  Daisy was our first mom and litter here in Alabama, and she was the hook that got us
involved.  She was an excellent mommy and she found a wonderful forever home. All her puppies have been
placed in great homes as well.  Below are pictures of Daisy with her new best friend Patches at her new home
in Anniston, Alabama.
"Jade" is an AKC registered Yellow lab.  When she was not chained to a tree in her owners back yard without benefit of a
collar, she was allowed to roam the neighborhood.  She gave birth Feb 08 in bushes across the street from her home.  When
the owner refused to take her or her babies back, we rescued her, fostered her and the babies and were thrilled when
Labrador Friends of the South, Inc agreed to take them all in and find them great homes!  On March 10th we transported them
to Atlanta where LFS took over their care.. THANKS ELENA!!!!
UPDATE 4/4/08:  We just learned that Jade is heartworm positive.  We are very sad for her since this is a highly preventable
disease but very involved/expensive to treat.  If you would like to donate to her medical treatment please contact Elena at LFS
for more info.   All her puppies have been adopted !!
On December 10, 2007, The Animal Shelters director arrived to find this 8 week old Golden Retriever mix
puppy, "Holly" had been shoved through the gates and abandoned.  We were called immediately to come and
foster her.  She had a severe case of worms but was easily treated.  She learned to use the doggie door
quickly and stole our hearts just as quick.  Once spayed, she was placed with a loving forever home and now
goes by "Sadie".  Stay tuned for updated pictures.
Meet; Wally, Mac and Sam... "The Walmart Brothers".  Their "owners" bred their mom hoping to make a quick dollar at Christmas
time.  In January 2008 when they couldn't sell them, they abandoned them at Walmart, where thank goodness we found them.
They have been fostered in our home and are awaiting their neuter surgery and will be placed on
PetFinder to find forever
homes.

UPDATE: ALL THE BOYS HAVE FOUND THEIR NEW FAMILIES.  ENJOY OUR UPDATED PICTURES!!
Kaycie AKA "Moosie" and her brother were abandoned at our City Community Center when they were just 4 months old. When
they were rescued, they were soaking wet from the rain, and starving. The male pup was taken right away by a family attending a
basketball game at the Community Center, and Jackie took in the female to foster. However, after just a few short weeks, she
stole our hearts, and has found her forever home with us. She currently lives with her two human siblings, and her 2 year old
chihuahua brother.

"Chewy" was surrendered to The Animal

for him." He had sores on everyone of his
paws but it healed quickly.  He also
learned to use the doggie door in a matter
of days.  He has got to be the happiest

Heidi was rescued from a backyard breeder that kept her in horrible conditions.  She was covered in fleas and
ticks.  She immediately came to us to foster.  We noticed right away something was not right with her walking
and she refused to jump on or off anything (unusual for a JRT).  We met the Director of The Animal Shelter at the
Vets and it was determined that she most likely had an infection that went untreated and ran its course in her
tiny body.  It settled in her joints and caused permanent damage.  She has been on a 3 week course of
antibiotics and steroids to see if it might relieve her pain and stiffness.  She will remain with us as a foster while
we continue treatment and can place her as a special needs puppy.

5/15/08 UPDATE:  DUE TO HER MEDICAL CONDITION THAT MAKES HER
DIFFICULT TO ADOPT; WE HAVE DECIDED TO ADD HER TO OUR OWN HOME.  IF
YOU ARE INTERESTED IN DONATING TO HER CONTINUING MEDICAL
TREATMENT, PLEASE CONTACT US.

7/25/08 Update
Hello,
Just wanted to let you know Sadie is doing well, she is up to about 60 pounds now. I will try to send more photos real
soon. I have been trying capture the photo of Sadie getting in mother's  lap, she is so big now you can't even see my
mother, all you hear is Sadie get off of me. She loves my Mom!!
Talk to ya soon
Hi Lisa:
Yes, with the exception of her losing patience with his 'puppy energy' (especially first thing in the morning) - they are
getting along famously!  This morning Gracie did the cutest thing with Chewy -- he was chewing on one of the Kong
toys at the edge of the stairs and it fell down a few of the stairs -- Gracie went down and picked it up and brought it
back to him, so he could continue chewing -- it was very, very cute! Friday will be an exciting day -- they both get to
go to the groomers together -- Chewy will get a bath and nail trim, while Gracie is getting a full groom.  I will post the
pictures and share them with you.  I use a local woman who has her own business -- she only schedules a set
amount per day and does not kennel the dogs, so it is like doggie daycare while they are waiting!
Take care,
